NOW THAT THE SUBMISSION PERIOD HAS CLOSED, WHY NOT TURN YOUR SUBMISSION INTO A PRESENTATION FOR THE PREMIER, AND/OR THE ENVIRONMENT MINISTER GAVIN JENNINGS, THE PLANNING MINISTER JUSTIN MADDEN OR THE MINISTER FOR PORTS TIM PALLAS?
WHAT IS A SUBMISSION?
A submission takes two forms – written and verbal. It is your chance to tell the government any concerns you have about the channel deepening project and how it might affect the Bay. In the case of the Channel Deepening project, submissions are being managed by the Department of Sustainability and Environment – a large Department in our state government. The submission will be read and considered by a Panel of three people who the government has chosen because they believe they are the best people to do that task.
Verbal submissions are also heard by the Panel members. Last time the Channel Deepening project was considered, some very interesting verbal submissions were made, which included films about the Bay, trips to the beach, performances and interviews with beach and Bay users etc, as well as lots of very serious science.
To make a verbal submission you have to write at least a short letter stating that you would like to be heard by the Panel.
Once you've decided what you'd like to do - good luck and don't forget to write your name, address, school and your age on it.
